Reminder: Be Careful Going Home
I know most of you are probably home or out partying by now, but I wanted to post this story. It's a good reminder to stay vigilant on your way home.
When I go home after any anon event, I take a somewhat convoluted route to get there. It's not very far out of my way or anything, but it would be very weird for someone to take it anyway, since there's a least five better routes. (But it does serve a good non-paranoid purpose*) So imagine my surprise when a car got behind me at a light, and stayed with me almost the entire way.
I had just lost someone else who had followed me for about a mile and pulled off the road (on an empty road no less ). At the very next intersection, this woman gets behind me. I just keep an eye on her and continue following my route. After about seven miles she's still there. So I finally turn into a subdivision, and down the first cul-de-sac I find. she continued further into the neighborhood.
I'm sure she just lived there and wanted to take a weird scenic route, but it did have me worried for a bit.
* It's the best route to take to get to the only fast-food restaurant near me that hasn't screwed up a milkshake for me. don't ask how the others have managed to screw up a milkshake (isn't it just hold cup under nozzle, then pull handle?), but they did it.

Re: Reminder: Be Careful Going Home
Oh, Haddug. You gotta go to the places that make it with real milk, and real ice cream (Steak & Shake), or at least an ice cream mix with a good quality syrup (Arby's). As a teen, I worked lots of fast food places (don't ask), and the only place that had a halfway decent shake IMHO was Arby's, although it cost me a line of "jamocha" spray across my boobs every day from using that milkshake blender thingy, and taking the cup down too suddenly most of the time!

Re: Reminder: Be Careful Going Home
Having some weirdness here. I'm sure Scary passed on the report to the people at the protest, but TL:DR, some Scilons noticed me on a spai op today. Anyway, I get home and there's a white van with a fucking antenna and blacked out windows parked in front of my place. Never seen it before. Am keeping an eye on it.
The chances of them catching my plates was miniscule, the chances of them tracking me down from the plates is even smaller. But grrr.

Re: Reminder: Be Careful Going Home
I'd disagree about them tracking you from getting your plates, unless the car isn't in your name. All they need is one cop friend and they have your dox. Did you get the plates on the van?cincianon wrote:Having some weirdness here. I'm sure Scary passed on the report to the people at the protest, but TL:DR, some Scilons noticed me on a spai op today. Did the plates look government at all? They usually have a faded GSA logo in the background. Your description sounds like it could maybe be FCC looking for some funny business over radio waves.

Re: Reminder: Be Careful Going Home
I went home, picked up my dog, and split my place for a couple hours. Came back around 10 and this thing was here.

Re: Reminder: Be Careful Going Home
LOL. Yes, have dogs and curtains.
I wandered casually by last night, have the plate number, and took a closer look. The thing is old-got some serious rust on it. Also, I figured no one was inside of it, because there was an armed alarm that I could see.
Still here in the morning. My guess is it's someone's on the street. We had new people move in next door a month or so ago, so maybe this is a visitor or something.
